Guest Speaking - Option #1
I am presently available for guest speaking engagements. Since I'm not the traditional speaker - in that I'm not lecturing, but rather opening my story up to those who wish to hear it and hoping to help reach those people who may feel "alone" in their situation - I run my talks a little differently than the norm. Because of this, I offer a couple 'options.'
OPTION #1: Two speeches in a one-day time period. Each talk with last approxmiately an hour plus time for questions. I prefer each session to be limited to 50-75 peiople, but if more spaces are necessary, it may be increased. The reason for this is so that the talk takes on a personal, one-on-one level...an environment that encourages open dialogue and questions. From my limited experience and from my discussions with other speakers, a large, auditorum-size audience will not feel free to ask questions that would otherwise be asked in a smaller, more personal environment. I prefer a casual atmosphere -- one that isn't "stuffy" ...one in which people can feel as comfortable as possible to ask personal questions...much like a "coffee hour."

TIME SPENT: This option is for a one-night stay-over. Meaning, I arrive the afternoon of day #1, spend the night, speak on day #2, depart the evening of day #2.

SPEAKING FEE: In order for me to accept speaking engagements, certain out of pocket expenses must be met. I ask that the following is paid: round-trip plane ticket (direct flights or minimal connections); hotel accommodations (a non-smoking "visiting professor"-type dorm room is also very acceptable); a ride to and from the airport; and a $300 (three hundred dollar) fee -- all of which goes towards kenneling my dogs/hiring a pet-sitter and taking time away from work. I have 7 adopted dogs, 2 adopted cockatiels, 2 parakeets, 2 finches, and 2 large aquariums. So as you can see, I have a great love for animals. Please note that my goal is not to make money at guest speaking, but rather to share my experience with those who may benefit from hearing about it.
